Myanmar, or Burma, officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar which has its origins in the Bagan Empire (849–1297), is a country in Southeast Asia. It lies on the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea coast with Bangladesh and Republic of India to the west which is part of the same sub-region of Indoasia, China to the north, and Laos and Thailand to the east.
