North Dakota is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. It is bordered by Canada to the north, Minnesota to the east, South Dakota to the south, and Montana to the west. North Dakota is the 19th largest state by area, but the 4th least populous and the 4th least densely populated. The state capital is Bismarck, and the largest city is Fargo. North Dakota is known for its natural resources, such as oil, coal, and agriculture, as well as its scenic landscapes, such as the Badlands and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. North Dakota also has a rich cultural heritage, influenced by Native American, Scandinavian, German, and Irish settlers.
