Central Africa is a region that captivates with its rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and landscapes. Encompassing a variety of countries, each with its own unique identity, the region is defined not just by its geographical boundaries but also by the shared experiences of its people. From the dense rainforests of the Congo Basin, home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, to the historical significance of ancient iron smelting sites in the Central African Republic, Central Africa is a testament to human resilience and natural splendor.

West Africa

The tropical Atlantic coastal nations. Most of these countries have a Christian south that was more directly affected by European colonisation and a Muslim north that was more influenced by the colonizing Arabs. A rapidly bustling and developing area.

Sahel

The desert and savannah nations that span the Sahel and southern half of the Sahara Desert. There are many ancient sites from pyramids to mosques as well as a nomadic way of life in some regions.

Egypt

The Arab Republic of Egypt is in north-eastern Africa. Egypt is perhaps best known as the home of the ancient Egyptian civilization, with its art, temples, hieroglyphs, mummies, and above all, its pyramids. Less well-known is Egypt's Coptic Christian and Muslim heritage, with ancient churches, monasteries and mosques dotted across the landscape. Egypt stimulates the imagination of tourists like few other countries.

Southeast Asia

South Asia

The breathtaking roof of the world that is the Himalayas in the north, tropical, humid waterways in the south, and some lively, chaotic cities and many ancient, historical sites to be found in between. There is much religious diversity here.
