Shandong

Shandong, an eastern Chinese province on the Yellow Sea, is known for its Taoist and Confucian heritage. It was also home to the ancient state of Qi, the last kingdom conquered by Qin Shi Huang, who proclaimed himself China’s first emperor in 219 B.C. in a ceremony on Taishan Mountain. One of China’s most sacred peaks, Taishan features shrines, stone tablets and pilgrimage trails.

Shanghai  is the most populous city in China and the most populous city proper in the world. It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of China, with a population of more than 24 million as of 2014. It is a global financial centre, and a transport hub with the world's busiest container port. Located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai sits on the south edge of the mouth of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the Chinese coast.

Liaoning

Liaoning Province is a coastal region in northeast China, also known as "the Golden Triangle" for its strategic location. It borders the Yellow Sea, the Bohai Gulf, and the Yalu River, making it a gateway to the Korean Peninsula and a hub of trade and commerce. Liaoning is the smallest, southernmost, and most populous province in the Northeast, with its capital at Shenyang, a city with a long history and rich culture. Guangdong

Guangdong is a province on the South China Sea coast of the People's Republic of China. The province was previously often written with the alternative English name Kwangtung Province. It surpassed Henan and Sichuan to become the most populous province in China in January 2005, registering 79 million permanent residents and 31 million migrants who lived in the province for at least six months of the year. The provincial capital Guangzhou and economic hub Shenzhen are amongst the most populous and important cities in China.

Heilongjiang

Heilongjiang is a fascinating province in northeast China, bordering Russia along the Amur and Ussuri rivers. It has a rich history and culture, as well as abundant natural resources and diverse wildlife. Heilongjiang means "Black Dragon River" in Chinese, which is the name of the Amur in China. The province is home to various ethnic groups, including Han, Manchu, Korean, Mongol and Hui. Heilongjiang is also known for its harsh winters and ice festivals in its capital city, Harbin.

Zhejiang

Zhejiang is an eastern coastal province of the People's Republic of China. The word Zhejiang (crooked river) was the old name of the Qiantang River, which passes through Hangzhou, the provincial capital. The name of the province is often abbreviated to "Zhe".Zhejiang borders Jiangsu province and Shanghai municipality to the north, Anhui province to the northwest, Jiangxi province to the west, and Fujian province to the south; to the east is the East China Sea, beyond which lie the Ryukyu Islands of Japan.

Beijing

Beijing, formerly romanized as Peking, is the capital of the People's Republic of China and one of the most populous cities in the world, with a population of 19,612,368 as of 2010. The metropolis, located in northern China, is governed as a direct-controlled municipality under the national government, with 14 urban and suburban districts and two rural counties. Beijing Municipality is surrounded by Hebei Province with the exception of neighboring Tianjin Municipality to the southeast.

 

Hebei

Hebei  is a province of the People's Republic of China in the North China region. named after Ji Province, a Han Dynasty province that included what is now southern Hebei. The name Hebei means "north of the river", referring to its location completely above the Yellow River.
 
In 1928, Hebei was formed after the central government dissolved the province of Chih-li, which means "Directly Ruled.
 

Shaanxi

The name "Shaanxi" is an irregular romanization of the Mandarin pronunciation of the Chinese name meaning "[Land] West of the Shan Pass". This pass in Henan, now part of Sanmenxia's Shanzhou District, was considered to be the place where the Yellow River left the Loess Plateau and entered the North China Plain.
