Heilongjiang is a fascinating province in northeast China, bordering Russia along the Amur and Ussuri rivers. It has a rich history and culture, as well as abundant natural resources and diverse wildlife. Heilongjiang means "Black Dragon River" in Chinese, which is the name of the Amur in China. The province is home to various ethnic groups, including Han, Manchu, Korean, Mongol and Hui. Heilongjiang is also known for its harsh winters and ice festivals in its capital city, Harbin.
